Our current lifestyles are pushing us more and more into bad postures. We work all day, seated while slouching in our chairs, carry heavy items on our backs and standing while leaning. Over time, your habits - however minor they may be - affect your posture. In the long run,you end up with severe back and neck pains which takes ages and large amounts of resources to treat. However, we have a way out of all that painful inevitability and it involves following very easy tips.

Take breaks from sitting

Sitting for prolonged periods of time, regardless of whether you assume a proper posture and have ergonomic seats, will eventually lead to a bad posture and back pain. While seated, a lot of stress is put on your back muscles. You therefore need to take breaks occasionally to avoid having a bad posture and to ease the stress on your back muscles. Experts advice a 20 minute interval break throughout the day.

Proper sitting posture

Usually, when we sit, we assume a slouching or slanting posture both of which are extremely bad for our back and neck muscles as well as our posture. It is therefore mandatory that if we wish to maintain proper postures and relieve ourselves from an eventuality of extreme pain and high medical bills, we should maintain proper postures while seated. An ergonomic seat, specifically designed to aid in relieving stress on the back and neck muscles and improve an individual's posture is a good place to start. However, before you get an ergonomic seat, always ensure that when seated, you align vertically, your ears, shoulders and hips. This posture improves the weight distribution evenly throughout our muscles and helps improve our posture.

Exercise

The benefits of exercising are numerous to our bodies. Weight training and cardio activities such as walking and running are highly recommended for improving posture. We should always watch out for the form and posture when we perform weight lifting because if done wrong, it may cause adverse effect and back injuries.

Proper standing

Most people do not know that there is a way of standing that is proper and other ways that are damaging. When standing, always make sure that there is an even distribution of your weight through both feet. Avoid placing undue stress on one foot and relieving the other, especially for prolonged periods of time.
